What is space Jesus???
“Space Jesus” refers to the theory that Jesus was one of the Engineers (or at least partly alien) and the crucifixion of Jesus was the event that happened 2,000 years ago that made them decide to destroy us; as Dr. Shaw shouts at the end of the movie Q: “Why did you change your mind?!” A: Jesus was one of us and you killed him.
The internet went whirling when scriptwriter Damon Lindelof tweeted that he liked the way blogger “Cavalorn” thought in a post that posited the so-called “space Jesus” theory. You can find it here:
http://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html
Cavalorn’s review is long and touches on a lot more than just Space Jesus, and my is response too long for the comments section, but if you were fascinated by Prometheus check it out. For those with shorter attention spans, Youtube reviewer comicbookgirl19 does a pretty good job giving a fast and dirty version of the Space Jesus theory:

The library owns a book, Prometheus: the Art of the Film, that actually clears up some of questions raised by Cavalorn. It also proves I wrong (what else is new) about the giant face hugger at the end being totally CGI.
Since I’ve bothered to type this much, I’d feel remiss not to mention Rob Ager’s thought provoking analysis of the original Alien. Prometheus and Alien deal with so many of the same themes, his train thought sheds light on both films. Ager’s approach is academic but his discussing R-rated horror films so the subject matter might be a little heavy for kids.

All of the provocative movies in the Alien franchise were produced by Walter Hill. Bill and Clint interviewed him a few months back. Check it out.
